Thank you Ms May, for such a clear description of the destruction wreaked by Harper on our Environmental Assessment law, and of the half measures being proposed by Trudeau!s government. This half-assed mockery of real evaluation is evident all the way through provincial (BC) and municipal law and regulation. It leaves earth air and water open to ongoing destruction for the benefit of corporations and the politicians they fund. It is a refection of the grotesquely skewed belief that the “market” is the one and only key to success…. defining success as “jobs jobs jobs” preferably paid only at levels which maximize corporate profit. Changing that “ethic” is fundamental to finding the kind of respect for this planets natural systems that will allow its -and our – ongoing wellbeing.
