(OTTAWA) — Elizabeth May (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands) wishes all Quebecers a happy Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day.

Ms. May said: “I wish all Quebecers a wonderful celebration on Quebec’s National Day. This is a day to recognize the distinct contributions the Quebec nation makes to Canada.”

Joey Leckman, GPC spokesperson for Quebec, noted that “the the St-Jean Baptiste celebration allows us to take stock of Quebec’s unique history, our language and our culture. As a province Quebec is a model in its social welfare policy. The federation as a whole benefits by seeing how it innovates in programs like its daycare services.”

“This is the day we highlight what makes Québec unique,” added Daniel Green, Green Party Deputy Leader. “Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day is a reminder of the long history of the people of Québec within the Canadian confederation.”

“On behalf of the Green Party of Canada, I extend my best wishes to all Quebec citizens and Canadians celebrating la Fête nationale du Québec and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day,” concluded Ms. May.
