The site C dam proposed by BC Hydro on the Peace River in northeastern British Columbia has been submitted for a provincial environmental assessment (EA). However, a provincial EA does not cover the scope of the potential harm the site C dam may cause.
By altering important waterways, fisheries and wildlife it will affect First Nation’s abilities to exercise their treaty rights in British Columbia, Alberta, and the Northwest Territories. It will also impact the narrowest point of the Yellowstone to Yukon wildlife conservation corridor and thereby destroy unique ecosystems, species and microclimates of the Peace River Valley.
