Week in Review: May 7 – 11
Welcome to Elizabeth May's parliamentary week in review! This weekly e-newsletter recaps her work in Parliament when the House is in session. Using the links below, you can watch videos of Elizabeth's interventions in the House, keep up with her media releases, and read articles she has written.
Elizabeth made several interventions related to the workplace harassment bill, C-65, and carbon pricing. She also posed a question to the Prime Minister regarding provisions in NAFTA that allow foreign corporations to oppose regulations meant to protect the public interest.
On Tuesday morning, Elizabeth held a press conference on Bill C-69, the environmental protections legislation. This took place in advance of clause-by-clause review, to which she submitted more than 150 amendments. After two marathon sessions this week, the committee was still within clause one, at which point the House moved to recess until May 22. So far, one Green amendment has been carried – to ensure scientific integrity.
Stay tuned for the next Week In Review on Friday, May 25!
