Week in Review: December 9 – 13
Welcome back to the parliamentary Week in Review for our Green Members of Parliament! After a long election, three Green MPs returned to Ottawa. Paul Manly and Elizabeth May were re-elected by their constituents, and they are joined by Jenica Atwin, the newest Green Party Member of Parliament from Fredericton.
The new Green Caucus hit the ground running when parliament resumed on December 5th with the election of the Speaker and the Speech from the Throne. After two packed days in Ottawa, Elizabeth travelled to Madrid, Spain to take part in the 25th Conference of the Parties (COP25 – International Climate Change Negotiations) as a member of the Canadian Government delegation. Paul and Jenica remained in Ottawa participating in a wide range of debates in the House of Commons.
After a short week and a half in Ottawa, the House of Commons has risen until late January, when the MPs return to work in our new minority parliament. With a new and larger caucus, the format of this newsletter will be changing in 2020 to keep you up to date on all the good work Green MPs are doing in Ottawa and in their ridings. For now please accept our best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season and we'll see you in the new year.
