    Thank you, Elizabeth. We need to keep pounding home three points.
    First, to meet our climate obligations, it’s already wiser to leave our resource in the ground than to ship it for foreigners to burn.
    Second, diluted bitumen is tar, not oil. Bitumen sinks, so a spill causes much more harm.
    And third, any profits from those pipelines go to Kinder Morgan in Houston, not to Albertans.

      We should also remember that pipelines carry bitumen to coastlines; to freighters, ever more freighters, causing noise to sea creatures, causing the use of ever more dirty bunker oil; ever more cuts from propellers and keels. The issue of pipelines is more about sea transport and ocean pollution.
