DESCRIPTION:Elizabeth May looks forward celebrating May Day with her constituents on Mayne Island. This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for community members to have fun\, support the Mayne Island Conservancy\, and celebrate the summer! \n10 am – 1:00pm \n\nFirst Farmers Market of year\n\n1:05pm  \n\nMaster of Ceremonies declares May Day started\nFanciest hat competition and prize draws\nChildren’s pledge to Mother Earth\nNoisy procession taking May Pole to Miners Bay Park accompanied by Green Man\, May Queens\, Maiden\, Crone\, knights\, fairies\, musicians\, drummers\, and the rest!\n\n1:45pm  \n\nChildren Walk the Labyrinth followed by royal procession\, coronation of 2023 May Queen by previous year’s Queen. Speeches by Green Man and new May Queen.\n\nAt the May Pole:\n2:00pm  \n\nSwearing in of pole guardians\nKids dance with Queens\, Maiden and Crone around the pole\nStone Crop Singers entertain\n\nGazebo and Games:\n2:30pm \n\n\n\nCakes arrive at the gazebo ~ with great ceremony\nCake + lemonade for everyone (Queen and Green Man first)
