DESCRIPTION:Elizabeth May\, MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands and Leader of the Green Party of Canada\, will join members of The Salvation Army at Thrifty Foods in Sidney to support their Kettle Campaign. She will ring the bell and wish folks happy holidays\, asking them to fill the kettle. Kettles are found in 2\,000 locations across Canada and are an opportunity for the public to donate whatever funds they can to support the work of The Salvation Army during the Christmas season and throughout the year. \n“The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign is one of Canada’s largest and most recognizable annual charitable events. In addition to the critical fundraising impact of the Campaign\, the Christmas kettles boost the Army’s visibility and awareness.  \nFor many Canadians\, the Christmas kettles are their only point of contact with The Salvation Army all year. According to public opinion polling\, more than half of all Salvation Army donors list “giving to a Christmas kettle” as their primary method of giving to The Salvation Army. \nFunds raised through donations made at Christmas kettles\, together with other sources of funds\, help provide direct\, compassionate\, hands-on service to over 1.9 million people each year in Canada\, restoring hope and dignity to those who might otherwise remain invisible in society.”

DESCRIPTION:Elizabeth May\, MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands and Leader of the Green Party of Canada\, will be attending the following event on Saturday\, December 16th from 3-4:30pm PT. \n“Join us for a delightful afternoon of beloved Christmas carols! Get into the holiday spirit as we transport you back in time to the elegant era of Queen Victoria. The Gilbert and Sullivan Singers will be adorned in their finest Victorian holiday attire; many costumes chosen from past Gilbert and Sullivan performances by costume maker and producer Norma Jee. \nChoir conductor Michael Denton and accompanist Robert Dukarm lead us through timeless carols that have been cherished for generations. Make this a family event. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult . And there may be some surprise visitors too! \nThe Victoria Gilbert and Sullivan Society is a proud member of the BC Choral Federation and a recipient of funding from the Provincial Employees Community Service Fund. We are delighted to be entertaining audiences from Victoria to Saanichton this festive season. \nWe appreciate your support. It helps us present future staged productions of G&S favourites.
