Elizabeth May : <\/b>Monsieur le Pr\u00e9sident, je remercie le d\u00e9put\u00e9 de York-Sud\u2014Weston de son expos\u00e9. Je vois que l’opposition officielle est pr\u00eate \u00e0 appuyer le projet de loi tout en \u00e9tant consciente des nombreuses occasions manqu\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Au pays, l’industrie ferroviaire a r\u00e9cemment \u00e9tabli ses quatre grandes priorit\u00e9s pour l’avenir. L’une d’elles est la durabilit\u00e9, particuli\u00e8rement en ce qui a trait \u00e0 la r\u00e9duction des gaz \u00e0 effet de serre, puisque le transport ferroviaire de marchandises est bien plus efficace pour lutter contre les changements climatiques que le transport par camion. Le d\u00e9put\u00e9 peut-il en dire davantage sur le fait que, en proposant ce projet de loi, on a manqu\u00e9 une occasion de tenir compte \u00e9galement des avantages que pr\u00e9sente le transport ferroviaire de marchandises en ce qui concerne les gaz \u00e0 effet de serre?<\/p>\n

Mike Sullivan : <\/b>Monsieur le Pr\u00e9sident, lorsqu’on a fait des commentaires sur la partie du projet de loi concernant l’\u00e9tablissement des prix, l’une des r\u00e9actions du gouvernement a \u00e9t\u00e9 de dire que les exp\u00e9diteurs ont d’autres choix. Bon nombre d’entre eux, mais pas tous, peuvent aussi utiliser des camions. Cependant, les camions consomment une quantit\u00e9 consid\u00e9rablement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e de combustible fossile, et leur empreinte \u00e9cologique est plus importante. Par cons\u00e9quent, le gouvernement devrait encourager le transport ferroviaire au lieu de le d\u00e9courager par son inaction.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
