Les gens qui nous regardent seront peut-\u00eatre heureux d&#8217;apprendre qu&#8217;il se remet tr\u00e8s bien d&#8217;un accident de ski nautique. En r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au commentaire de mon coll\u00e8gue, qui a affirm\u00e9 que nous pouvions tous nous lever \u00e0 la Chambre, je dirai que le d\u00e9put\u00e9 de Lethbridge pourra le faire tr\u00e8s bient\u00f4t.<\/p>\n<p>Ce qui me pr\u00e9occupe, c&#8217;est que bien des projets de loi \u00e0 la Chambre proviennent de l&#8217;autre endroit. On les alt\u00e8re graduellement et ils \u00e9rodent peu \u00e0 peu ce qui devrait \u00eatre un exercice de transformation visant une nouvelle relation et un changement par rapport \u00e0 l&#8217;anachronique Loi sur les Indiens, qui tra\u00eene un lourd pass\u00e9. Je ne m&#8217;\u00e9tendrai pas ind\u00fbment l\u00e0-dessus, je n&#8217;en aurai pas le temps dans cette br\u00e8ve question.<\/p>\n<p>Ce qui me pr\u00e9occupe, et je me demande si le d\u00e9put\u00e9 de Lethbridge est d&#8217;accord avec moi, c&#8217;est qu&#8217;il serait nettement pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable de mener une consultation en bonne et due forme, de nation \u00e0 nation, entre le Canada et les Premi\u00e8res Nations, dans un processus qui ferait des Premi\u00e8res Nations des partenaires \u00e0 part enti\u00e8re dans une d\u00e9marche globale, et non une d\u00e9marche fragmentaire \u2014 qui, je regrette d&#8217;avoir \u00e0 le dire, est tout simplement irrespectueuse \u2014 pour la r\u00e9vision de cette loi qui touche directement la vie des Premi\u00e8res Nations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim Hillyer :<\/strong> Monsieur le Pr\u00e9sident, j&#8217;adopterais volontiers une approche holistique dans le cadre de laquelle toutes les Premi\u00e8res Nations du Canada s&#8217;engageraient \u00e0 trouver, en collaboration avec le Canada, une seule solution globale. Peut-\u00eatre y arriverons-nous un jour. Ce sera peut-\u00eatre lors du retour du Messie.
