La semaine derni\u00e8re, le CN a annonc\u00e9 qu\u2019il cessera ses activit\u00e9s sur 70 km de voie ferr\u00e9e dans le nord du Nouveau-Brunswick entre Miramichi et Bathurst, un tron\u00e7on aussi emprunt\u00e9 par la ligne Oc\u00e9an de Via Rail entre la ville de Qu\u00e9bec et celle d\u2019Halifax.<\/p>\n<p>Cette d\u00e9cision menace le service de passagers par train pour toute la r\u00e9gion des Maritimes. Les compressions pourraient se faire sentir d\u00e8s juillet.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Ces compressions insens\u00e9es sont un d\u00e9sastre pour le service de passagers par train au Canada \u00bb, a affirm\u00e9 la chef du Parti vert du Canada et d\u00e9put\u00e9e de Saanich\u00ad\u2013Gulf Islands, Elizabeth May. \u00ab Il est plus que temps d\u2019investir dans des infrastructures de transport \u00e0 faibles \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre, mais le gouvernement de Stephen Harper semble d\u00e9termin\u00e9 \u00e0 laisser VIA Rail mourir \u00e0 petit feu. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Le chef adjoint du Parti vert du Canada et d\u00e9put\u00e9 de Thunder Bay-Superior Nord, Bruce Hyer, est depuis longtemps un partisan du transport par train. Il croit que ces compressions sont sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent et dangereuses. \u00ab Le gouvernement doit prendre le contr\u00f4le du tron\u00e7on Bathurst-Miramichi pour sauver le service d\u2019un bout \u00e0 l\u2019autre du pays. \u00c0 la place, il met en danger, volontairement, le service pour passagers. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab J\u2019utiliserai ce parcours les 2 et 3 mars pour rencontrer des Canadiens touch\u00e9s par ces changements \u00bb, a ajout\u00e9 le d\u00e9put\u00e9 Hyer. \u00ab J\u2019esp\u00e8re que pour une fois, le gouvernement d\u00e9montrera de l\u2019audace et fera de cet enjeu une de ses priorit\u00e9s au lieu de sacrifier le transport passager par train et de diviser le pays en deux. \u00bb <\/p>\n<p>Le Parti vert du Canada appuie fortement les investissements dans nos infrastructures nationales de chemin de fer, notamment les investissements pour accro\u00eetre les partenariats f\u00e9d\u00e9ral-municipal de syst\u00e8mes l\u00e9gers sur rail et pour
