Ayant pour th\u00e8me \u00ab T&#8217;es important pour nous. Le suicide n&#8217;est pas une option \u00bb, cette semaine de sensibilisation se d\u00e9roule, cette ann\u00e9e, du 2 au 8 f\u00e9vrier. Elizabeth May, chef du Parti vert du Canada et d\u00e9put\u00e9e de Saanich-Gulf Islands, tient \u00e0 rappeler \u00ab le r\u00f4le essentiel d\u2019une strat\u00e9gie en mati\u00e8re de sant\u00e9 mentale qui fait pr\u00e9sentement grandement d\u00e9faut surtout pour nos jeunes. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;Association qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise de pr\u00e9vention du suicide (AQPS) pr\u00e9sentait la semaine derni\u00e8re les plus r\u00e9centes statistiques sur le suicide. Ainsi, en 2011, 1105 personnes se sont enlev\u00e9 la vie au Qu\u00e9bec. En plus de ces pertes de vie, quelque 28 000 tentatives de suicide sont r\u00e9alis\u00e9es chaque ann\u00e9e. Le plus r\u00e9cent rapport de l&#8217;Institut national de sant\u00e9 publique du Qu\u00e9bec r\u00e9v\u00e8le que des 1 105 Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois qui se sont enlev\u00e9 la vie en 2011, 852 \u00e9taient des hommes et 253 \u00e9taient des femmes. Le risque de suicide est donc 3,4 fois plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 chez les hommes que chez les femmes. <\/p>\n<p>Du c\u00f4t\u00e9 f\u00e9d\u00e9ral, la Loi concernant l\u2019\u00e9tablissement d\u2019un cadre f\u00e9d\u00e9ral de pr\u00e9vention du suicide a re\u00e7u la sanction royale le 14 d\u00e9cembre 2012. Suite \u00e0 cette sanction, le gouvernement du Canada tiendra des consultations avec les minist\u00e8res f\u00e9d\u00e9raux pertinents, les gouvernements provinciaux et territoriaux et des organisations non gouvernementales afin d\u2019orienter l\u2019\u00e9laboration d\u2019un cadre f\u00e9d\u00e9ral de pr\u00e9vention du suicide. La Loi, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9pos\u00e9e au Parlement sous le nom de projet de loi C-300, reconna\u00eet que le suicide, en plus d\u2019\u00eatre un probl\u00e8me de sant\u00e9 mentale, est un enjeu de sant\u00e9 publique et une priorit\u00e9 en mati\u00e8re de sant\u00e9 et de s\u00e9curit\u00e9.
