Notre environnement naturel est la source de notre richesse et de notre sant\u00e9. La for\u00eat, l\u2019eau, la terre et les ressources \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques du Canada alimentent notre \u00e9conomie. Mais si nous traitons notre environnement comme une entreprise en liquidation, nos ressources naturelles comme notre \u00e9conomie en p\u00e2tiront. L’absence de r\u00e9glementation, de surveillance et d’action \u00e0 l’\u00e9chelle f\u00e9d\u00e9rale a fait du Canada l’un des pays du monde les plus destructeurs de l’environnement. Nous sommes au rang des pires pays de la plan\u00e8te pour le gaspillage de nos ressources naturelles. Notre terre, notre air et nos eaux servent de d\u00e9charges de produits toxiques. Cette absence de protection de notre environnement pourrait bien l\u00e9guer \u00e0 nos enfants un environnement d\u00e9grad\u00e9 et malade. Comment pouvons-nous \u00eatre aussi inconscients ?<\/p>\n
Le Parti vert a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 son plan pour un avenir durable bas\u00e9 sur la responsabilit\u00e9 fiscale, la sant\u00e9 \u00e9cologique et la justice sociale.<\/p>\n
Notre parti est le seul qui ait adopt\u00e9 une approche en trois volets (\u00e9conomique, \u00e9cologique et sociale) pour chaque politique; notre position sur les questions environnementales de base est donc tr\u00e8s claire.<\/p>\n
Il est urgent que le gouvernement canadien d\u00e9finisse des cibles concr\u00e8tes avec des objectifs mesurables, et mette en place les ressources requises pour atteindre ces objectifs. L’histoire r\u00e9cente nous a appris que les actions purement volontaires ne servent \u00e0 rien. L’histoire r\u00e9cente a \u00e9galement prouv\u00e9 que les politiques doivent \u00eatre appliqu\u00e9es de fa\u00e7on coh\u00e9rente. Par exemple, il n’est pas possible de r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre tout en continuant \u00e0 accorder des subventions \u00e0 l\u2019industrie du p\u00e9trole responsable du plus grand volume de carbone sur la plan\u00e8te \u2013 le p\u00e9trole brut des sables bitumineux de l’Athabasca.<\/p>\n
Nous devons absolument nous \u00f4ter de la t\u00eate l’id\u00e9e que la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique d\u00e9pend de la croissance physique et tirer parti de la stabilit\u00e9 de notre \u00e9conomie (une \u00e9conomie stable, par opposition \u00e0 une \u00e9conomie en plein boum). Une croissance exponentielle soutenue n’est pas en phase avec la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 de notre plan\u00e8te finie.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
