Un mouvement en faveur de la Mort dans la dignit\u00e9 a attir\u00e9 l\u2019attention d\u2019un public r\u00e9ceptif partout au Canada, notamment du Parti vert. La m\u00e9decine moderne permet de garder les humains en vie pendant de longues ann\u00e9es alors qu\u2019anciennement, les limites de la technologie faisaient en sorte que les souffrances des malades \u00e9taient soulag\u00e9es par la mort. Les personnes qui vivent des souffrances extr\u00eames \u00e0 la fin de leur vie se sont \u00e0 maintes reprises tourn\u00e9es vers les tribunaux pour faire amender le Code criminel qui interdit l\u2019aide m\u00e9dicale \u00e0 la mort.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Dans un jugement unanime, le 6 f\u00e9vrier 2015, la Cour supr\u00eame du Canada a revu sa position traditionnelle selon laquelle l\u2019aide m\u00e9dicale \u00e0 la mort \u00e9tait une infraction au Code criminel. Selon des circonstances tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cises \u00e9nonc\u00e9es par la Cour, un m\u00e9decin peut fournir l\u2019aide m\u00e9dicale \u00e0 la mort. Le Parlement canadien a jusqu\u2019en f\u00e9vrier 2016 pour \u00e9laborer une loi qui respectera la d\u00e9cision du plus haut tribunal au pays. Le Parti vert est pr\u00eat puisqu\u2019il appuie cette position fond\u00e9e sur la compassion. Il est cependant d\u2019avis que nous devons demeurer vigilants afin que cette d\u00e9cision ne soit jamais prise par une autre personne que le patient ou la patiente qui souhaite mourir. Nous ne pouvons plus laisser les familles de ces patients face \u00e0 ce dilemme moral et juridique lorsqu\u2019ils d\u00e9cident d\u2019aider une personne qui choisit de mettre fin \u00e0 ses jours avec dignit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Les d\u00e9put\u00e9s verts\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Appuieront les amendements au Code criminel pour permettre aux m\u00e9decins de fournir l\u2019aide m\u00e9dicale \u00e0 la mort dans des cas et des circonstances limit\u00e9s qui engagent des adultes consentants poss\u00e9dant leurs capacit\u00e9s mentales compl\u00e8tes et qui sont atteints d\u2019une maladie
