OTTAWA\u2013<\/strong> Elizabeth May<\/a>, chef du Parti vert (Saanich \u2015 Gulf Islands), publie la d\u00e9claration suivante apr\u00e8s la nouvelle que le Partenariat transpacifique (PTP) permettrait l\u2019importation de lait contenant des hormones au Canada.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0En 1999, Sant\u00e9 Canada a banni l\u2019hormone de croissance bovine (BSTr), en raison de pr\u00e9occupations relatives au bien-\u00eatre des animaux, dont un risque accru de mastite, une infection bact\u00e9rienne douloureuse qui atteint les mamelles, un risque accru de claudication clinique de 50\u00a0% ainsi qu\u2019une dur\u00e9e de vie plus courte pour les vaches. J\u2019ai jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le essentiel quand il s\u2019est agi d\u2019emp\u00eacher les hormones de croissance bovine de p\u00e9n\u00e9trer au Canada, en tant que directrice g\u00e9n\u00e9rale du Sierra Club du Canada.<\/p>\n

Au Canada, il est encore ill\u00e9gal d\u2019utiliser l\u2019hormone de croissance bovine pour accro\u00eetre la production de lait, mais le PTP permettrait d\u2019importer du lait contenant cette hormone au Canada. Nous ne savons rien des effets de ces hormones sur les humains; c\u2019est l\u2019une des raisons pour lesquelles l\u2019Europe a d\u00e9j\u00e0 banni le BSTr. Le Centre international de recherche sur le cancer craint que le BSTr n\u2019augmente le nombre de cancers chez les humains. Le lait qui contient ces hormones doit rester hors du Canada.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Le Parti vert est tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9occup\u00e9 par la nature fonci\u00e8rement antid\u00e9mocratique et non transparente des n\u00e9gociations sur le PTP. \u00c0 ce stade, le PTP est un accord de principe. Au Parlement, le Parti vert s\u2019efforcera de veiller \u00e0 ce qu\u2019un d\u00e9bat libre et transparent ait lieu avant tout rejet ou toute ratification de l\u2019accord, \u00bb d\u00e9clare Paul Manly<\/a>, porte-parole du Parti vert en mati\u00e8re de commerce international.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
