Il contient de nombreuses dispositions utiles. Toutefois, par principe, je m&#8217;oppose toujours aux motions d&#8217;attribution de temps. La Chambre existe pour examiner les projets de loi et prendre le temps qu&#8217;il faut pour le faire.<\/p>\n<p>Je crains que les rumeurs d&#8217;une \u00e9lection g\u00e9n\u00e9rale imminente nous poussent \u00e0 adopter rapidement de nombreux projets de loi alors qu&#8217;elles sont fausses. Nous avons une loi pr\u00e9voyant des \u00e9lections \u00e0 date fixe. Pour d\u00e9clencher des \u00e9lections, le gouvernement devra \u00eatre pr\u00eat \u00e0 enfreindre la loi, car les prochaines \u00e9lections sont pr\u00e9vues en octobre 2023. L&#8217;adoption de ce projet de loi est certes importante, puisque certaines dispositions prendront effet imm\u00e9diatement et aideront les Canadiens. Toutefois, dans le cas d&#8217;autres projets de loi, une \u00e9tude plus approfondie s&#8217;impose.<\/p>\n<p>La vice-premi\u00e8re ministre est-elle d&#8217;accord avec moi pour dire qu&#8217;il n&#8217;y a aucune \u00e9lection \u00e0 l&#8217;horizon \u00e0 court terme, \u00e0 moins que le gouvernement ne soit pr\u00eat \u00e0 enfreindre la loi?<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019hon. D&#8217;abord, en ce qui concerne la question des \u00e9lections, je vais \u00eatre tr\u00e8s claire: le gouvernement ne veut absolument pas d&#8217;\u00e9lections. Nous pensons qu&#8217;\u00e0 l&#8217;heure actuelle, il nous faut redoubler d&#8217;ardeur pour soutenir les Canadiens, en finir avec la COVID et soutenir notre effort national pour sortir de la r\u00e9cession due \u00e0 la COVID. C&#8217;est l\u00e0-dessus et l\u00e0-dessus seulement que nous axons r\u00e9solument nos efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Quoi qu&#8217;il en soit, nous ne pouvons pas nous offrir le luxe d&#8217;attendre en qui concerne la loi d&#8217;ex\u00e9cution du budget. Ces mesures d&#8217;aide aux revenus et aux entreprises arrivent \u00e0 \u00e9ch\u00e9ance en juin.
