Elle sait que, parmi les nombreux sondages qui y ont \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9s \u00e0 ce sujet au cours des sept ou huit derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, le plus bas taux d&#8217;approbation jamais enregistr\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 de 82 p. 100. Il ne s&#8217;agit m\u00eame pas des mes propres chiffres, mais de ceux des stations de radio et des journaux. Elle devrait savoir que, dans les r\u00e9gions rurales du Canada, surtout dans ma circonscription, ce registre est tout simplement une tr\u00e8s mauvaise id\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>La d\u00e9put\u00e9e a dit qu&#8217;elle souhaitait prolonger le d\u00e9bat \u00e0 ce sujet. J&#8217;en parle depuis longtemps et je sais que le d\u00e9put\u00e9 de Yorkton\u2014Melville en parle depuis 16 ans. Pendant combien de temps la d\u00e9put\u00e9e pense-t-elle qu&#8217;on devrait en d\u00e9battre? Est-ce que 17 ans suffiraient?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elizabeth May :<\/strong> Monsieur le Pr\u00e9sident, j&#8217;aime me rendre dans la circonscription du d\u00e9put\u00e9 de Bruce\u2014Grey\u2014Owen Sound. Le fait que les gens de sa circonscription ont eu la sagesse d&#8217;\u00e9lire la premi\u00e8re femme \u00e0 la Chambre des communes, Agnes MacPhail, nous donne de bonnes raisons de r\u00e9examiner ce projet de loi dans l&#8217;int\u00e9r\u00eat des droits des femmes d&#8217;un bout \u00e0 l&#8217;autre du Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Je ne doute aucunement que la majorit\u00e9 des gens de sa circonscription se soient oppos\u00e9s au registre sous sa forme actuelle. J&#8217;esp\u00e8re que j&#8217;ai \u00e9t\u00e9 claire quand j&#8217;ai dit que je crois que le registre devait \u00eatre modifi\u00e9. Il exigeait un certain nombre de choses inutiles qui donnaient aux habitants des r\u00e9gions rurales respectueux des lois l&#8217;impression d&#8217;\u00eatre criminalis\u00e9s. Nous aurions pu trouver un terrain d&#8217;entente qui nous aurait permis de convenir de garder le registre et les instruments d&#8217;application de la loi tout en abrogeant les \u00e9l\u00e9ments qui stigmatisaient de mani\u00e8re injuste les propri\u00e9taires d&#8217;arme \u00e0 feu respectueux des loi.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Larry Miller : Monsieur le
