Un des articles d\u00e9montre davantage le soutien offert par le registre aux services de police locaux dans le Sud de l&#8217;\u00eele de Vancouver. Il est question d&#8217;une intervention rapide, men\u00e9e \u00e0 Saanich par le sergent Dean Jantzen, qui a permis d&#8217;arr\u00eater une personne pour le vol d&#8217;un grand nombre d&#8217;armes d&#8217;\u00e9paule. Le sergent Jantzen a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 ceci: \u00ab L&#8217;acc\u00e8s au registre des armes d&#8217;\u00e9paule a acc\u00e9l\u00e9r\u00e9 l&#8217;enqu\u00eate de fa\u00e7on essentielle. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Je porte cette affaire \u00e0 l&#8217;attention du d\u00e9put\u00e9 et je lui demande de la commenter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Randall Garrison :<\/strong> Monsieur le Pr\u00e9sident, je ne me lancerai pas dans un d\u00e9bat avec la d\u00e9put\u00e9e de la circonscription voisine pour d\u00e9terminer laquelle de nos deux circonscriptions est la plus belle, car cela prendrait tout notre temps. Son intervention confirme certainement ce que j&#8217;ai appris. Lorsque j&#8217;\u00e9tais membre de la commission de police, et quand j&#8217;\u00e9tais conseiller municipal, les services de police me disaient tr\u00e8s souvent qu&#8217;ils utilisaient le registre des armes \u00e0 feu et qu&#8217;ils obtenaient de tr\u00e8s bons r\u00e9sultats.<\/p>\n<p>Les d\u00e9put\u00e9s d&#8217;en face ont aussi tendance \u00e0 n\u00e9gliger l&#8217;utilit\u00e9 du registre lorsqu&#8217;il s&#8217;agit d&#8217;\u00e9lucider des crimes et d&#8217;obtenir une condamnation au criminel.
