Je l&#8217;appuie certainement, mais il a pour titre \u00ab Loi sur la protection des personnes \u00e2g\u00e9es au Canada \u00bb et il ajoute un tr\u00e8s petit \u00e9l\u00e9ment \u00e0 prendre en consid\u00e9ration pour d\u00e9terminer la peine \u00e0 infliger.<\/p>\n<p>La d\u00e9put\u00e9e ne convient-elle pas avec moi qu&#8217;il nous faut faire un plus grand effort pour attirer l&#8217;attention, par exemple, sur les droits des a\u00een\u00e9s qui sont plac\u00e9s dans des \u00e9tablissements de soins de longue dur\u00e9e o\u00f9 ils sont victimes de mauvais traitements contre lesquels ils sont incapables de se prot\u00e9ger?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laurin Liu :<\/strong> Monsieur le Pr\u00e9sident, je suis enti\u00e8rement d&#8217;accord avec ma coll\u00e8gue.<\/p>\n<p>Il est significatif que le jour m\u00eame o\u00f9 le gouvernement a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 ce projet de loi, j&#8217;ai d\u00e9pos\u00e9 \u00e0 la Chambre mon projet de loi d&#8217;initiative parlementaire qui ferait en sorte que tout a\u00een\u00e9 admissible aux prestations du Suppl\u00e9ment de revenu garanti serait automatiquement inscrit \u00e0 ce programme.<\/p>\n<p>Le gouvernement et le NPD ont des fa\u00e7ons tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rentes de voir les choses. M\u00eame si nous appuyons le projet de loi, nous croyons que le Suppl\u00e9ment de revenu garanti ou d&#8217;autre mesures visant \u00e0 \u00e9liminer r\u00e9ellement la pauvret\u00e9 chez les a\u00een\u00e9s sont les solutions qu&#8217;il nous faut pour vraiment nous attaquer \u00e0 la racine du probl\u00e8me.<\/p>\n<p>Nous pouvons parler des soins de longue dur\u00e9e ou du prix des m\u00e9dicaments d&#8217;ordonnance. Il y a tant de choses que nous devons faire pour aider les a\u00een\u00e9s.
