Je suis heureuse d&#8217;avoir mes REER. Je m&#8217;efforce depuis longtemps d&#8217;y placer de l&#8217;argent. Mais quand on regarde l&#8217;efficacit\u00e9 de ce syst\u00e8me, on constate qu&#8217;il co\u00fbte extr\u00eamement cher et est, en fait, accessible \u00e0 un nombre limit\u00e9 de gens. Moins les travailleurs gagnent, moins ils sont nombreux \u00e0 d\u00e9tenir des REER. Par cons\u00e9quent, les personnes qui ont le plus besoin de prestations de retraite sont les moins susceptibles de les obtenir gr\u00e2ce aux REER.<\/p>\n<p>Les obligations municipales semblent \u00eatre une option attirante. Je sais que cela d\u00e9passe le cadre du projet de loi C-25, mais que pense la d\u00e9put\u00e9e de London\u2014Fanshawe de l&#8217;id\u00e9e que les Canadiens pourraient investir leur \u00e9pargne-retraite dans des obligations municipales de leur propre collectivit\u00e9?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Irene Mathyssen :<\/strong> Madame la Pr\u00e9sidente, nous devrions examiner cette possibilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>En d\u00e9cembre 2010, le gouvernement f\u00e9d\u00e9ral a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu&#8217;il tiendrait des rencontres avec les provinces pour discuter, de fa\u00e7on pratique et progressiste, de la crise de l&#8217;\u00e9pargne-retraite. Si nous avons un autre gouvernement, peut-\u00eatre que de futures discussions pourront aboutir \u00e0 des solutions solides et pratiques. J&#8217;esp\u00e8re que nous aurons un gouvernement diff\u00e9rent en 2015. En fait, je suis convaincue que nous en aurons un.<\/p>\n<p>Nous pourrions peut-\u00eatre discuter avec les municipalit\u00e9s et trouver des options d&#8217;\u00e9pargne-retraite solides et pratiques, qui offriraient de bons rendement, de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et des prestations d\u00e9termin\u00e9es \u2014 bref, le genre de r\u00e9gime de retraite que m\u00e9ritent les Canadiens qui ont pass\u00e9 leur vie enti\u00e8re \u00e0 b\u00e2tir notre pays et \u00e0 cr\u00e9er notre filet social.
