Elizabeth May :<\/strong> Monsieur le Pr\u00e9sident, deux ans apr\u00e8s l\u2019abandon des plans de forage dans l\u2019Arctique, \u00e0 la suite de la catastrophe de BP dans le golfe du Mexique, il semble maintenant que l\u2019Arctique soit de nouveau la cible d\u2019une campagne d\u2019exploration p\u00e9troli\u00e8re. Cela est fort inqui\u00e9tant, car l\u2019Office national de l\u2019\u00e9nergie a assoupli les exigences relatives au forage de puits de secours disponibles pendant une saison, en cas d\u2019\u00e9ruption.<\/p>\n

Comment l\u2019Office national de l\u2019\u00e9nergie a-t-il l\u2019intention de pr\u00e9venir les risques d\u2019\u00e9ruption pendant les activit\u00e9s de forage, d\u2019exploration et d\u2019exploitation dans notre \u00e9cosyst\u00e8me le plus fragile, celui de l\u2019Arctique?<\/p>\n

L’hon. John Duncan :<\/strong> Monsieur le Pr\u00e9sident, le Nord rec\u00e8le de ressources naturelles de calibre mondial, qui ouvrent d\u2019extraordinaires perspectives de croissance \u00e9conomique et de cr\u00e9ation d\u2019emplois pour les habitants du Nord et tous les Canadiens. Le gouvernement continue de promouvoir l\u2019investissement dans les collectivit\u00e9s du Nord, et c\u2019est quelque chose que la d\u00e9livrance de permis d\u2019exploration dans la mer de Beaufort encouragera.<\/p>\n
