En outre, beaucoup de mes \u00e9lecteurs m&#8217;ont dit qu&#8217;ils appuyaient fortement ce projet de loi d&#8217;initiative parlementaire. Je me consid\u00e8re ouverte d&#8217;esprit. Je dois cependant avouer que je ne sais pas comment je vais voter au sujet de ce projet de loi.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Je demande \u00e0 mon coll\u00e8gue qui a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 la motion s&#8217;il peut me convaincre que si nous modifions la loi, comme il le propose dans son projet de loi, nous aurons les outils voulus pour faire face au probl\u00e8me que vient de soulever ma coll\u00e8gue de l&#8217;opposition officielle. Les droits des femmes et la protection de ces derni\u00e8res contre les propos haineux seront-ils prot\u00e9g\u00e9s ad\u00e9quatement si nous modifions la loi?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brian Storseth :<\/strong> Madame la Pr\u00e9sidente, je remercie ma coll\u00e8gue d&#8217;\u00eatre aussi ouverte d&#8217;esprit. Elle affiche l&#8217;esprit m\u00eame de la d\u00e9mocratie dans lequel nous sommes tous envoy\u00e9s ici.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Au fond, le projet de loi ferait passer les dispositions sur les propos haineux dans le Code criminel. C&#8217;est un point qu&#8217;il est tr\u00e8s important de comprendre. Je pense que cette mesure accro\u00eetrait la protection contre les propos haineux. Ce sont des crimes graves. Les enqu\u00eates sur ces crimes ne devraient pas \u00eatre men\u00e9es par des bureaucrates dans le secret d&#8217;organismes quasi-judiciaires. Ce sont des crimes sur lesquels la police devrait enqu\u00eater. Les deux parties devraient pouvoir consulter un avocat et le proc\u00e8s devrait \u00eatre pr\u00e9sid\u00e9 par un juge. C&#8217;est une question grave et un crime grave.<\/p>\n<p>Je pense que si les dispositions sur les propos haineux figuraient l\u00e0 o\u00f9 ils devraient au Canada, c&#8217;est-\u00e0-dire dans le Code criminel, cela les rendrait plus efficaces dans notre d\u00e9mocratie tout en accroissant la libert\u00e9 d&#8217;expression sur Internet et par d&#8217;autres moyens de communication, de plus en plus utilis\u00e9s par les jeunes aujourd&#8217;hui pour faire avancer la d\u00e9mocratie.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Elizabeth May : Madame la Pr\u00e9sidente, je remercie mon coll\u00e8gue de Westlock\u2014St. Paul d&#8217;avoir pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 ce projet de loi.
