Un certain nombre de personnes de Saanich-Gulf Islands sont atteintes de cette maladie invalidante. Toutefois, cette tique ne conna\u00eet aucune limite g\u00e9ographique et l\u2019on d\u00e9couvre de nouveaux cas partout au pays. Des milliers de personnes sont atteintes de ce qui est en train de rapidement devenir une menace nationale.<\/p>\n<p>Alors que de nombreux \u00e9tats am\u00e9ricains ont rapidement ma\u00eetris\u00e9 cet urgent probl\u00e8me, ironiquement, le Canada minimise toujours la maladie de Lyme et s\u2019accroche \u00e0 des normes d\u00e9su\u00e8tes en mati\u00e8re de diagnostic et de traitement. Il faut pr\u00e9voir le coup et aider les scientifiques qui s\u2019efforcent de cr\u00e9er des outils de surveillance am\u00e9lior\u00e9s comme les cartes des risques. Comme indiqu\u00e9 dans mon projet de loi d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat public, une strat\u00e9gie nationale viendrait appuyer ce travail et veillerait \u00e0 ce que les citoyens soient vigilants dans les zones o\u00f9 la tique s\u2019\u00e9tablit.<\/p>\n<p>Le public et la collectivit\u00e9 m\u00e9dicale doivent \u00eatre inform\u00e9s de l\u2019incidence et de la propagation croissantes de cette maladie. Si les m\u00e9decins savent que le risque local\u00a0 augmente, ils peuvent alors aider en \u00e9tablissant rapidement des diagnostics et en faisant de la pr\u00e9vention.
