Chaque ann\u00e9e depuis, le programme envoie 1100\u00a0jeunes \u00e2g\u00e9s de 17\u00a0\u00e0 21\u00a0ans travailler b\u00e9n\u00e9volement aupr\u00e8s d\u2019organisations communautaires partout au Canada. Ayant donn\u00e9 de pr\u00e9cieux outils \u00e0 plus de 30\u00a0000\u00a0jeunes, Katimavik est reconnu mondialement, notamment par l\u2019ONU, et repris par de nombreux autres pays.<\/p>\n
L\u2019annulation du programme fut annonc\u00e9e par les conservateurs de Harper dans le budget du mois de mars. Le 2\u00a0avril\u00a02012, les conservateurs annulaient leur propre prolongation du contrat sign\u00e9 avec Katimavik, obligeant du m\u00eame coup 600\u00a0jeunes \u00e0 renoncer \u00e0 leurs projets.<\/p>\n
Comble de l\u2019ironie, le programme de 15\u00a0millions de dollars con\u00e7u pour donner aux jeunes des comp\u00e9tences de vie et de nouvelles perspectives prend fin au moment o\u00f9 14,8\u00a0pour\u00a0cent des jeunes sont au ch\u00f4mage.<\/p>\n
Un peu plus t\u00f4t ce mois-ci, l\u2019Organisation de coop\u00e9ration et de d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomiques\u00a0(OCDE) publiait un rapport r\u00e9v\u00e9lant que le taux de ch\u00f4mage \u00e9lev\u00e9 combin\u00e9 au ch\u00f4mage \u00e0 long terme aurait un effet n\u00e9faste sur les jeunes, sur leur cheminement de carri\u00e8re et sur leurs futurs revenus. D\u2019apr\u00e8s Statistique\u00a0Canada, pr\u00e8s d\u2019un jeune ch\u00f4meur sur dix est sans emploi depuis plus d\u2019un\u00a0an.<\/p>\n
