Elizabeth May, la chef du Parti vert du Canada, a rencontr\u00e9 les membres de l’organisation de mobilisation citoyenne OpenMedia.ca pour discuter de leurs inqui\u00e9tudes grandissantes avec la flamb\u00e9e des tarifs et autres frais li\u00e9s \u00e0 l’acc\u00e8s Internet et \u00e0 la t\u00e9l\u00e9phonie cellulaire. La rencontre a permis de confirmer ce que May avait entendu d’un grand nombre de r\u00e9sidents, de petites entreprises et d’innovateurs \u2013 les Canadiennes et les Canadiens croulent litt\u00e9ralement sous la panoplie de frais excessifs li\u00e9s \u00e0 l’acc\u00e8s Internet.<\/p>\n

Comme si cela ne suffisait pas, les grandes soci\u00e9t\u00e9s de t\u00e9l\u00e9phonie et de c\u00e2blodistribution souhaiteraient instaurer des compteurs pour les utilisateurs d’Internet et les abonn\u00e9s au c\u00e2ble. Cela signifie que nous pourrions d\u00e9sormais envisager un avenir dans lequel les grandes soci\u00e9t\u00e9s nous facturent chaque octet utilis\u00e9, comme ils le font d\u00e9j\u00e0 pour les t\u00e9l\u00e9phones intelligents.<\/p>\n

Le CRTC, l’organisme de r\u00e9glementation des t\u00e9l\u00e9communications au Canada, se penche actuellement sur la tarification des services Internet, et nous avons une occasion unique de mettre un terme \u00e0 cette tarification abusive. Le Parti vert continuera de d\u00e9fendre vigoureusement les principes d’\u00e9quit\u00e9, votre budget familial et notre \u00e9conomie num\u00e9rique.<\/p>\n

Les Canadiennes et les Canadiens ont choisi d’unir leurs voix pour envoyer un message clair au CRTC \u2013 nous refusons la tarification abusive impos\u00e9e par les grandes soci\u00e9t\u00e9s de t\u00e9l\u00e9phonie et de c\u00e2blodistribution en signant la p\u00e9tition \u00ab Stop the Meter \u00bb.
