D\u00e9sign\u00e9e \u00ab parlementaire de l\u2019ann\u00e9e \u00bb par ses pairs dans le cadre d\u2019un exercice annuel parrain\u00e9 par L\u2019Actualit\u00e9 et Maclean\u2019s, Elizabeth May est en voie de devenir \u00e0 la Chambre des communes ce qu\u2019Amir Khadir a r\u00e9cemment \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019Assembl\u00e9e nationale, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire une voix dont la r\u00e9sonance a raison de la marginalit\u00e9 de sa place.<\/p>\n

Moins de deux ans apr\u00e8s son entr\u00e9e au Parlement, la chef du Parti vert en semble d\u00e9j\u00e0 ind\u00e9logeable. Cet automne, elle a largement contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 mettre le d\u00e9bat sur l\u2019avenir des relations commerciales entre la Chine et le Canada sur la carte politique.<\/p>\n

Les r\u00e9sultats des \u00e9lections partielles qui se sont d\u00e9roul\u00e9es en Colombie-Britannique et en Alberta le mois dernier donnent \u00e0 penser que l\u2019arriv\u00e9e aux Communes d\u2019Elizabeth May a eu un impact plus positif pour sa formation que celle de Thomas Mulcair \u00e0 la t\u00eate du NPD. Tous partis f\u00e9d\u00e9raux confondus, ce sont les verts qui ont enregistr\u00e9 la plus forte augmentation de leurs appuis dans le cadre de ces votes.<\/p>\n

Avec un tiers des suffrages contre le NPD \u00e0 Victoria et un vote sur quatre \u00e0 Calgary, la performance du Parti vert a relanc\u00e9 le d\u00e9bat sur la division du vote progressiste au Canada. Dans la perspective de d\u00e9bats des chefs au sein desquels Mme May est assur\u00e9e d\u2019avoir sa place au prochain scrutin f\u00e9d\u00e9ral, ce n\u2019est pas une discussion strictement th\u00e9orique.<\/p>\n
