Le d\u00e9put\u00e9 a soulign\u00e9 que l&#8217;entreprise VIA Rail n&#8217;est pas propri\u00e9taire des voies ferr\u00e9es qu&#8217;elle utilise, ce qui est tout \u00e0 fait exact. Elle doit obtenir la permission des transporteurs de marchandises \u00e0 qui elle loue les voies. Cela devient toutefois de plus en plus difficile, puisque la longueur des trains de marchandises augmente constamment, et qu&#8217;ils ne peuvent donc plus utiliser les voies d&#8217;\u00e9vitement. Du fait m\u00eame, c&#8217;est toujours le train de passagers qui, parce qu&#8217;il est plus court, doit se ranger sur la voie d&#8217;\u00e9vitement et attendre que le convoi de marchandises soit pass\u00e9. Cela nuit \u00e0 l&#8217;efficacit\u00e9 du transport de passagers.<\/p>\n<p>Le d\u00e9put\u00e9 aurait-il des commentaires \u00e0 ce sujet?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matthew Kellway<\/strong>: Monsieur le Pr\u00e9sident, si on veut assurer l&#8217;avenir des transports collectifs, on doit d&#8217;abord chercher \u00e0 rendre le transport des passagers plus efficace. Les retomb\u00e9es environnementales seraient consid\u00e9rables. Depuis une vingtaine d&#8217;ann\u00e9es, l&#8217;intensit\u00e9 des \u00e9missions dues au transport ferroviaire des passagers a diminu\u00e9 d&#8217;environ 26 %, mais il y aurait moyen de faire encore beaucoup mieux.<\/p>\n<p>Ce serait g\u00e9nial si on trouvait le moyen de donner la priorit\u00e9 aux trains de passagers, sans pour autant compromettre le rendement et l&#8217;efficacit\u00e9
