Les taux de <i>concentration<\/i> des gaz \u00e0 effet de serre (GES) sont un type de mesure tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rent de celui des taux d\u2019<i>\u00e9mission<\/i> de GES. Les taux de concentrations durent tr\u00e8s longtemps; des si\u00e8cles peuvent s\u2019\u00e9couler avant qu\u2019ils ne baissent; les taux d\u2019\u00e9mission, quant \u00e0 eux, peuvent baisser au cours d\u2019une nuit. Il est urgent de commencer \u00e0 r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions parce que les concentrations qu\u2019elles engendrent aujourd\u2019hui nous r\u00e9servent un r\u00e9chauffement climatique que nous devrons subir pendant les 100 prochaines ann\u00e9es.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Elizabeth May, chef du Parti vert du Canada, et Andrew Weaver, candidat du Parti vert aux \u00e9lections en Colombie\u2011Britannique, croient tous deux que cette nouvelle \u00e9tape de la saga climatique devrait lancer le signal d\u2019un virage majeur vers les technologies propres capables de mettre un frein \u00e0 cette courbe ascendante.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u00ab En d\u00e9passant les 400 ppm, nous p\u00e9n\u00e9trons dans une zone dangereuse. Il nous faut imm\u00e9diatement faire marche arri\u00e8re et nous convertir aux nouvelles technologies propres afin de r\u00e9duire les GES \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Mme May, d\u00e9put\u00e9e de <\/span><span>Saanich-Gulf Islands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Mme May a d\u00e9pos\u00e9 un projet de loi d\u2019initiative parlementaire visant \u00e0 plafonner <a href=\"http:\/\/elizabethmaymp.ca\/fr\/news\/publications\/press-releases\/2013\/03\/22\/greens-speak-out-for-climate-action-may-explains-her-new-private-members-bill-c-484\/\">les \u00e9missions de dioxyde de carbone provenant des centrales thermiques au charbon<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u00ab Il est clair que les \u00e9missions provenant de ces centrales sont parmi les plus dangereuses pour la plan\u00e8te. Les technologies propres qui existent aujourd\u2019hui peuvent nous aider \u00e0 affronter les d\u00e9fis du 21<sup>e <\/sup>si\u00e8cle \u00bb, a\u2011t\u2011elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Les scientifiques s\u2019accordent maintenant pour dire que les gaz \u00e0 effet de serre doivent \u00eatre circonscrits de mani\u00e8re \u00e0 emp\u00eacher les temp\u00e9ratures moyennes mondiales d\u2019augmenter de deux degr\u00e9s Celsius. Cette temp\u00e9rature limite, selon eux, sera atteinte quelque part entre 425 ppm et 450 ppm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Le climatologue et leader adjoint du Parti vert de la Colombie\u2011Britannique, Andrew Weaver, affirme que la barre que nous franchissons aujourd\u2019hui peut \u00eatre le pr\u00e9lude \u00e0 une nouvelle r\u00e9alit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique en
