Please read the following statement from Elizabeth May, MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands and Leader of the Green Party of Canada, recognising National Dental Hygienists Week and Oral Health Month:
“April is Oral Health Month and today we are celebrating the start of National Dental Hygienists Week! The theme of this week is “Oral Health for Total Health”. There are over 30,000 dental hygienists across the country and by bettering our oral health, their work contributes to a healthier Canada as a whole. Preventative dental care is crucial not only for oral health, but for all aspects of our physical well being. Seniors are especially prone to health issues when they are not able to access preventative care. We must continue to work towards truly universal dental care so that fewer Canadians will be forced to turn to hospitals and primary care providers for oral health issues.”
