I was honoured to speak in the house and acknowledge Dr. David Suzuki’s 90th birthday.
There are few more trusted, steadfast voices for the environment and for science. A Canadian legend, and my dear friend across the decades, David has helped our country understand that we are not separate from nature, rather we are deeply connected to it.
Through advocacy and research, David has inspired generations to see environmental stewardship as a fundamental duty—and to understand the consequences of inaction.
Now, at 90 years of age, and the recipient of countless honours, David’s voice perhaps carries more urgency and wisdom than ever. He continues to remind us that nature is truly a miracle. In a time when moral courage and honesty are desperately needed, David’s example reminds us that one person, grounded in science and guided by principle, truly can create an everlasting impact.
