Statement from the Green Party of Canada on anti-Semitic attacks in Kansas City

The Green Party of Canada condemns the tragic anti-Semitic attacks that took place outside Kansas City yesterday.

William Lewis Corporon, 69, and his grandson Reat Griffin Underwood, 14, are dead following a shooting rampage yesterday afternoon at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City. Authorities are investigating the attack as a hate crime.

“The horrific attacks that took place yesterday show that anti-Semitism still exists in our society,” said Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and Member of Parliament for Saanich–Gulf Islands. “This unbelievable tragedy reminds us of the violence and intimidation that the Jewish community continues to face to this day. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families and their loved ones.”
