“I wish all those who celebrate a very happy Chinese New Year. This is the year of the dragon, which represents good luck, justice, prosperity, strength and good health. The next two weeks are an opportunity for celebration and to grow our collective understanding of the diversity and richness of Chinese culture.
It is also not lost on me that anti-Chinese racism has been on a significant rise here and around the world. We all have a responsibility to uplift and call out racism, hate and violence directed towards those of Chinese descent, who have shaped so much of Canada’s history and social fabric. 恭喜發財 Kung Hei Fat Choi!”
