Please read the following statement from Elizabeth May recognising Earth Day:
“Today we celebrate the 55th anniversary of Earth Day. I helped organise the first Earth Day when I was in grade 10 and every year it serves as a time to reflect on how we can protect our Mother Earth. Although it is hard to see the devastation being brought to ecosystems and communities around the world, there are also so many people working towards a more sustainable planet and way of life. This is what brings me hope.
The theme of Earth Day this year is “Our Power, Our Planet”. Whether it is creating a clean electricity grid that runs from east-west or expanding wind farms, Canada must continue to pursue a just transition that protects workers. This Earth Day is about protecting the planet with your vote!”
