Please read the following statement from Elizabeth May, MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands and Leader of the Green Party of Canada, recognising Human Rights Day:
“Since 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has promoted equality, justice, sustainability and peace. This Human Rights Day is themed “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now”. This aims to show the tangible impact of targeting relevant and current human rights issues, demonstrating their successes and striving for practical solutions. Today we acknowledge the great achievements we have made as a country and reaffirm our commitment to addressing the injustices that remain in Canada and around the world.”
