Statement on Ramadan 2016

(OTTAWA) June 6, 2016 – The Green Party of Canada released the following statement to mark the beginning of Ramadan:

“Today marks the first day of the holy month of Ramadan. For Muslims across Canada and the world, Ramadan is a time of reflection, empathy, and prayer. Communities, friends, and families come together each evening to recite the Qu’ran and to help those less fortunate,” said Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands).

“Ramadan reminds all Canadians that we live in a country that celebrates diversity and multiculturalism. On behalf of the Green Party of Canada, I wish all Muslims peace and happiness during Ramadan. Ramadan Kareem.”
