Statement on the anniversary of the release of the final report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls

Please read the following statement from Elizabeth May, MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands and Leader of the Green Party of Canada, recognising the anniversary of the release of the final report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls:

“Today we mark the anniversary of the 2019 release of the final report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. 231 calls for justice were clearly laid out for the government, yet far too many are still unfulfilled. The pathway is clear to protect Indigenous women, girls and Two-spirit people from systemic violence.

Our goal for this new parliament must be to implement every recommendation from the report. Today I rose in the House to reiterate my commitment to this. We need a guaranteed livable income, reliable ground transportation in rural and remote areas, and an end to ‘man camps’.
