Please see the following statement from Elizabeth May, MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands and Leader of the Green Party of Canada, recognising World Water Day.
“The theme of this year’s World Water Day is “Water for Peace.” Unequal and scarce access to water can lead to conflict, especially when nearly half of the world’s population is reliant on freshwater that crosses national borders. The escalating climate crisis exacerbates the risk of conflicts over water. We need to come together and recognise access to water as an intrinsic human right that can bridge divides and promote global peace. Water is life.”
