Parliament reconvened early, on Thursday, Sept 15th, to formally respond to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. In a statement on behalf of the Greens, Mike sent condolences to the Queen’s family and all those who loved her.
Elizabeth attended the late Queen’s funeral service in Ottawa on Monday, September 19th. She was particularly moved by the amazing musical performances at the ceremony. Click here to learn more.
Following the official day of mourning and funeral on Monday, parliament resumed on Tuesday, September 20th.
Elizabeth gave a statement sending her condolences to the James Smith Cree Nation. “We send our thoughts, our love, our prayers, but we know that words are not enough,” she said.
MPs started the new session of parliament debating the long-awaited Canada Disability Benefit (CDB). “We need to act quickly to get support into the hands of people who have been waiting for years,” said Mike.
