Week in Review May 2 – 6

On May 5th this week, MPs honoured the thousands of Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit folk (MMIWG2S) that have gone missing or been murdered across Turtle Island (Canada). In a speech, Elizabeth stated that the government has not acted with enough urgency to prevent Indigenous women and girls from going missing and being murdered.

In her question on Monday, Elizabeth condemned the government for making new investments into Small Modular Reactors (SMR) and Molten Salt Reactors. In the context of Russian President Vladimir Putin threatening nuclear war, she questioned whether the government is managing the risk of nuclear weapons proliferation.

In his question on Wednesday, Mike asked the government to recommit billions of dollars previously promised to long-term care homes in Canada. He pointed out that the 2022 budget did not contain any new commitments to long-term care.
