CONSTITUENCY COORDINATOR
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Responsible for operations and administration of the Constituency Office, ensuring professional, courteous, non-partisan service is provided to Saanich-Gulf Islands residents.
- Provides support to Constituent Advocates (staff) as needed (assist constituents with queries, monitors workload while liaising with Chief of Staff).
- Responsible for helping manage MP’s local calendar, working closely with Chief of Staff; receives, schedules and tracks local meeting requests and event invitations.
- Supports MP in meetings and at local events; provides support on action items and commitments.
- Coordinates and attends all local MP community meetings throughout the riding of Saanich-Gulf Islands.
- Liaises with local elected officials and stakeholders on behalf of the MP. Maintains open line of communication and remains informed of local issues.
- Manages incoming correspondence to the MP, working closely with Hill team.
- Helps recruit and manage volunteers for the Constituency Office.
- Oversees the implementation of the Canada Summer Jobs program and other local government initiatives that support residents of Saanich-Gulf Islands.
- Assists with advertisements in local publications and communication materials distributed in the riding of Saanich-Gulf Islands, liaising with Chief of Staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong organizational and administrative skills in a professional office environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, experience working with people as a service provider.
- Familiarity in navigating federal agencies such as the Canada Revenue Agency, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and Service Canada.
- Familiarity with local issues of the Saanich-Gulf Islands and the rest of Vancouver Island.
- Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented and collaborative environment is essential.
- Experience recruiting and/or working with volunteers.
- Experience working with and supporting elected officials.
- Experience in event management.
- Ability to handle and adapt to changing circumstances; responds quickly to urgent matters and has a strong sense of urgency.
- Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office and CRM software experience is not required but will be an asset.
