Please read the following statement from Elizabeth May, MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands and Leader of the Green Party of Canada, recognising the anniversary of the death of Chantel Moore in 2020:
“As we mark the fifth anniversary of Chantel Moore’s killing at the hands of a police officer, we are resolute in seeking justice. She was a 26 year old mother and a proud member of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation. She was shot five times on the threshold of her home. This remains a crime without justice. We demand justice for Chantel and justice for all Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit people.”
