Re: Support for Canadian delegation to the March to Gaza

I want to share my support for the Canadian delegation participating in the March to Gaza. This is a peaceful, grassroots march aimed at emphasizing the need for unencumbered humanitarian access to Gaza. Participants from around the world will march from Cairo to the Rafah border crossing and back.

Canada’s complicity in the Israeli government’s collective punishment of Gaza must end. The world can no longer stand by and remain complicit in these violations of international law. It is time to match words with action. Canada must impose a two-way arms embargo on Israel, cut off economic ties with illegal settlements and demand urgent humanitarian relief for the people of Gaza.

I stand with the peaceful participants of the March to Gaza and thank them for their advocacy and bravery. I urge the Government of Egypt to authorize and facilitate this humanitarian march through Egyptian territory.
