Statement on World Water Day

Please read the following statement from Elizabeth May, MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands and Co-Leader of the Green Party of Canada, recognising World Water Day:

“World Water Day reminds us that water is life and the preservation of water is paramount for human survival. Access to freshwater is uneven. There remain 35 boil water advisories in First Nations communities across the country. As well, bulk water exports continue to flow from Canada at a time when protecting our natural resources is more important than ever. Freshwater is not infinite. We must ensure freshwater access for all in Canada and sustainably manage this precious resource for the next seven generations and beyond.”
