It is being hailed as a historic moment. After two weeks of negotiations, the United Nations Paris Conference on Climate Change has ended with an agreement.
World leaders are lauding its goal of limiting global warming to a 1.5 degree increase over pre-industrial average temperatures, a result far stronger than many expected the conference could produce.
“This is the best we’re going to get not just now but probably ever,” said Saanich-Gulf Islands MP and Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May.
“This has ambition in it that I didn’t expect to see, this embraces the concept of climate justice,” she said.
