Please read the following statement from Elizabeth May, MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands and Leader of the Green Party of Canada, recognising Clean Air Day:
“Clean Air Day stands out due to harsh reality of air quality in Canada, which contributes to over 15000 deaths every year. Air pollution costs Canadians at least $120 billion every year. As smoke from wildfires hangs over Canadian cities, the link between climate, pollution and health is clear.
We need public education about how to protect ourselves from the effects of air pollution, but more importantly, governments must take action. Clean air must be right, not a privilege.”
