Please read the following statement from Elizabeth May, MP for Saanich—Gulf Islands and Leader of the Green Party of Canada, recognising the anniversary of the 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus crash:
“Canadians remember the devastating Humboldt Broncos bus crash in 2018 that claimed 16 lives. This horrific tragedy affected communities all across Canada and left those who survived with serious injuries that they continue to recover from and deal with. In the years since, these players have exemplified resilience and hope and have served as role models for young athletes and all Canadians.
I am inspired by the “meteoric rise” of Jacob Wassermann in para rowing and look forward to seeing him compete in the Paralympics this summer. Today we mourn those who lost their lives and extend deepest sympathies to all those whose lives were forever scarred by this tragic accident.”
